Flexographic Press Assistant - 1st & 2nd Shift

The Flexo Press Assistant position is responsible for working closely with Press Operators and other team members to organize and prepare materials and supplies needed in the production process for flexography.

  • 1st Shift - 8:00am-4:30pm
  • 2nd Shift - 4:30pm-12:30am

Job Description:

  • Responsible for assisting Flexo Operator with setup
  • Makes boxes and labels according to job orders
  • Follow safety regulations and facility guidelines
  • Organize materials and supplies appropriate to production schedule
  • Maintain work area- keep clean and organized
  • Read and understand work order instructions
  • Quality check regularly to verify producing quality products and proper counts
  • Keep up with demand
  • Prepare tooling, inks, wash-up and set-up of machine according to work orders
  • Follow production schedule
  • Ensure proper counts and labeling during packing operation
  • Move finished goods to staging area
  • Stage and maintain proper levels of materials and supplies for efficient machine operation
  • Change tape roll as required
  • Communicate all issues/problems with Operator and or Supervisor

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Attend meeting as assigned 
  • Maintain cleanliness of your work area
  • Daily clock in/out for shift and/or applicable breaks
  • If all work is completed, please notify your manager
  • Maintain good standing with company attendance policy and physically attend all shifts when scheduled; this position is not eligible for remote capabilities
  • Report all accidents directly to Human Resources and follow all safety and hazard communication procedures
  • Perform all other duties as directed by management

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Documentation, reporting, organization, data-entry, telephone skills, customer relations, listening and verbal/written communication, multi-tasking, entry-level computing skills with PC and windows, dependability and emotional control. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and regular attendance.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.  The employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, hands or feet; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouch or crawl.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Production environment, which will include constant noise throughout the day.  Certain areas of production will require PPE of either hearing and/or eye protection.  Environment will include odors and minor variances in temperatures.  Production environment requires closed toe shoes, be conscious of work being performed and stay in walking paths whenever possible outside of assigned areas.  All individuals must walk with their head up in all areas of the building, parking lot and grounds being conscious of moving vehicles, forklifts, and other potential hazards.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 1-2 years of technical school preferred
  • Previous experience in production, assembly or printing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to complete time report and production reports.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. 
  • Ability to count, number sequencing, add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
