Maintenance Technician - New Philadelphia, OH

The Maintenance Technician at Artemax's New Philadelphia, Ohio facility is responsible in completing and assisting in the completion of day-to-day maintenance requests regarding to repair, troubleshooting, installing of all machinery and equipment. This also includes maintenance of the facility and outdoor needs.


This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Install, repair, rebuild and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment used in production and related services
  • Manage and maintain all HVAC, lighting, plant air, and all building related maintenance activities
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedule for equipment and machinery.  Follow up on adjustments and repairs as needed
  • Maintain consumable parts inventories
  • Diagnose machine malfunctions and operating difficulties
  • Arrange for and manage, appropriate third-party contractor support as needed
  • Detect and report defective parts/tools and equipment or questionable conditions to direct production management
  • Maintain required maintenance logs and files
  • Perform routine housekeeping activities and ensure adherence to established safety procedures and requirements
  • Assist in projects as assigned


  • Attend meetings as assigned
  • Maintain cleanliness of your work area
  • Daily clock in/out for shift and/or applicable breaks
  • If all work is completed, please notify your manager
  • Maintain good standing with company attendance policy and physically attend all shifts when scheduled; this position is not eligible for remote capabilities
  • Report all accidents directly to Human Resources and follow all safety and hazard communication procedures
  • Perform all other duties as directed by management


  • Experience with machine repair, electrical and mechanical systems required
  • Must be able to troubleshoot issues and find the root cause of the problem
  • Ability to use all hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and testing devices common in equipment repair
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret repair manuals, blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to accomplish tasks
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive forklift, scissors lift, order picker, and equipment related to snow removal and landscaping

Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree in Maintenance or related field with minimum of 3 years in print manufacturing environment. Experience with printing (flexography, offset & digital), converting and finishing equipment desired.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general communication and web instructions.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, sales representatives, clients and production staff. 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Excel, Word and Outlook.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.  The employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, hands or feet; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouch or crawl.


Office, Production and Outdoor environment, which will include constant noise throughout the day.  Certain areas of production will require PPE of either hearing and/or eye protection.  Environment will include odors and minor variances in temperatures.  Production environment requires closed toe shoes, be conscious of work being performed and stay in walking paths whenever possible outside of assigned areas.  All individuals must walk with their head up in all areas of the building, parking lot and grounds being conscious of moving vehicles, forklifts, and other potential hazards. Outdoor environment requires individual to dress appropriately for the weather.
